1-DHEA is a naturally occurring DHEA isomer which cannot convert to testosterone or estrogen — but instead converts to the non-estrogenic 1-testosterone. 1-DHEA is perhaps one of these most powerful prohormone’s on the market. 1- DHEA converts to three different powerful hormones.
But the primary hormone we are after is 1-Testosterone. The most recent research on 1-Testosterone shows that it has similar anabolic and androgenic activity to the popular illegal steroid Testosterone Propionate or “Test Prop”, based on Hershberger assay (Friedel et al., 2006). Older research suggests it is seven times more powerful than testosterone. More importantly, recent research suggests 1-DHEA is in fact metabolizing to 1-Testosterone quite efficiently (Parr et al., 2011). This makes 1-Androsterone, a prohormone to 1-Testosterone, a powerful anabolic.
1-DHEA does not convert to estrogen nor does it activate the estrogen receptor like DHEA is known to do. It could be referred to as “dry DHEA”. Because of this, it will stack well with other estrogenic steroids such as 4-DHEA to produce clean gains in muscle tissue.
1-Androsterone will stack well with almost any compound. For more dramatic gains in size and strength it is recommended to stack this compound with an aromatizing steroid or possibly one of the progestational compounds listed elsewhere.
Because of the aforementioned reasons, 1-DHEA is an excellent mass and strength builder. It is considered a must in many stacks for its muscle building properties alone. If you plan to use any prohormone this is certainly one you should strongly consider whether your goals are to add lean body mass, add strength, or retain strength while dieting.
