The hormone then possesses an added methyl group that protects it post-administration officially classifying it as a C17-alpha alkylated (C17-aa) anabolic steroid. This refers to the methyl group creating a structural change at the 17th carbon position.

By its structural nature induced by the aforementioned changes, this significantly increases its anabolic power and dramatically reduces its androgenicity.
